Research-led, experience-informed
Honest Hound is a research-led site run by an experienced dog owner. For every recommendation we combine first-hand owner experience with deep research: manufacturer specs, large-scale owner feedback, and reputable primary sources. We weigh safety, durability, value, and who a product is — and isn't — right for.
Our sources
For health, food and safety topics we draw on and cross-check against trusted veterinary sources — the AVMA, the AKC, and peer-reviewed veterinary research. We cite our sources so you can check them yourself.
Our honesty rule
If we haven't tested something hands-on, we tell you exactly how we evaluated it instead — there are no pretend "as tested" badges here, ever. We never fabricate reviews or test results.

We don't have an in-house vet, and we don't claim to. Our guidance is general information grounded in vet-reviewed sources — it is not veterinary advice. For anything specific to your dog's health, please consult your own vet.
